Our Beginning - History of CPWCIC
The Central Province Women’s Chamber of Small Industries & Commerce (CPWCIC) was established in 1994 as the second women’s chamber in Sri Lanka. With just 37 pioneering women entrepreneurs as founding members, CPWCIC was created to empower women in business, provide a collective voice, and open pathways to economic self-reliance.
Over the past three decades, the Chamber has grown into a powerful network of over 1,500 women entrepreneurs, representing a diverse range of industries in the Central Province. From small-scale enterprises to emerging exporters, CPWCIC has become a platform for innovation, collaboration, and resilience.

Message from the President
Pic of the President
Central Province Women’s Chamber of Commerce is passing its 31st mile post in this year. I would like to fondly remember Mrs. Miyuriel Nilaweera with respect at this moment. Business women of central province have achieved a standard platform and a high spirit, due to a concept born in her mind with the aim of uplifting the business women. There had been 4 former presidents and they worked hard to improve this association.
As the present president, I had to face difficulties and challenges due to Covid pandemic period. I am pleased that we could go through the difficult era without fail with the support of every member of the association.
Central Province Women’s Chamber of Commerce consists of 17 member Director Board and nearly 700 members by now. Mrs. Shirley Jayawardana, former president of the association, had introduced the FAME project for us and it implements special training programs for business women successfully. With all these efforts, the association heads along effectively in strengthening business women in the province to rise into efficient professional personnel.
I hope and do my best to bring success to the association in future.
Kanthi Madagammana (President)
